Discounted HD movies on FilmFlex

It may not be as enticing as the 'Penny Movies' offer a few weeks back but FilmFlex will again be discounting high definition movies as they approach the end of their 'premium price' life on Virgin Media.
Bee Movie Animated family adventure featuring the voice talent of Jerry Seinfeld. Available for £2.50 from 07/12/08 to 17/12/08
Be Kind Rewind Jack Black recreates the tapes he erases in a video store. Available for £2.25 from 18/12/08 to 27/12/08
No Country For Old Men Multi-Oscar winning crime thriller from the Coen Brothers, with Javier Bardem. Available for £2.75 from 20/12/08 to 31/12/08
The Kite Runner Acclaimed adaptation about a rift between childhood friends. Available for £2.25 from 20/12/08 to 31/12/08
Cloverfield Action thriller about a huge creature invading New York City. Available for £2.50 from 01/01/09 to 07/01/09
A reminder that it will only be a month or so before these turn up for nowt on Sky Premiere in standard definition.

Iron Man and Indiana Jones in HD - UPDATED

Good news for those of us who enjoy the odd extravagance of a Filmflex HD film every now and again - both Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Iron Man are listed as "coming soon" in high def on the Filmflex website. (Please note that Filmflex's definition of "coming soon" normally means in the next week or two, as opposed to the Virgin Media definition of the next year or two...)
Less exciting is that two other summer blockbusters on their way, Wanted and Incredible Hulk, are not listed as HD.
I expect Dark Knight, being a Warner Bros title, will be in HD...fingers crossed.

UPDATE: Iron Man is showing from Dec 11, Indiana Jones from Dec 25. Both are £3.99 in SD and £4.99 in HD.

FilmFlex improving HD services

Slowly but surely it appears that FilmFlex are beefing their high definition movies listings. This week sees three of the service's new releases available in HD (Enchanted, Primeval Kill and 30 Days of Night) and with now around 20 movies available it looks like a creditable service at last. I watched Michael Clayton in HD at the weekend - it may not be the most dramatic visuals you'll ever see in high definition, but a stunning picture nevertheless (and a pretty stunning movie, too).
Thank you, FilmFlex - let's hope these improvements continue.

More HD with FilmFlex

The on demand film service, FilmFlex, has been nicely adding more HD movies in recent weeks, including some worth investing in if you don't find the price of entry too prohibitive.
Added this week are the Joy Division Control, Michael Clayton (Gorgeous George in HD - careful now, ladies) and Steve Buscemi's Interview. Of the older movies there are two Tarentino's Death Proof and Pulp Fiction, the first Pirates of the Carribean movie (the watchable one) and and The Village. There are 21 in all showing in my region this week, priced from £3.99 to £4.50 - don't ask me to explain the pricing structure as it makes no sense to me whatsoever. New on this blog

The daily update on what's new on BBC HD each evening seems to be quite popular, so I've added two more regular lists of HD On Demand information that I'll endeavour to keep current:

• FilmFlex seems to be expanding its selection of HD films - here's the current listing for my region.
• TV Choice On Demand HD has some quality US imports, all free of charge to XL customers. (Go to TV Choice On Demand, 9, 1 to access.)

I've not bothered adding a panel for the BBC HD On Demand as that's been constant for months. If you want the full listing for that, please check out this post, where the other info is out of date but the BBC stuff is still true.

FilmFlex HD

The HD fayre on Filmflex looks like it's picking up: over on his excellent Inside Virgin blog, Virgin1 reports that in addition to Pulp Fiction (now available), Eastern Promises and Armageddon in HD. Presumably with the same bizarre pricing structure we currently "enjoy". More at Inside Virgin

Death Proof in HD

In my area FilmFlex has added two further films in HD today, bringing the total available to 14. The Walker stars Woody Harrelson and had fairly mixed reviews, but perhaps more interesting is the arrival of Tarantino's Death Proof, available for an inexplicably steep £4.50. I've seen neither, but it's good to see the FilmFlex HD selection expanding at last after several months of in action

Good news for folk who lost their FilmFlex HD movie selection (meager though it may be); they're back, and with some new titles, too.

At £4 except where noted...is it me, or do those prices reflect the film length? Over two hours, you pay 25p or 50p more? That's pretty pathetic...they don't do it with the SD films, so why do it for HD?

Incidentally, I've noticed that the A-Z listing in TV Choice on Demand is now listed in a different format, making it quicker to go through. Could this be a sign that they're looking to add more content shortly?
