Press Thumbs Down, Thumbs Up, Play Play (in a fairly quick succession)
Screen goes blank for 15 seconds and then things should show an improvement. It's still not exactly "snappy" but it's an improvement.

Clears the cache
Is the TIVO button at the top of the remote the same as the HOME button?
Bruce C: there is no TIVO button on the Virgin Media remote
