Sky Q announced

Whilst all Virgin Media customers have to look forward to in 2016 is yet another price hike for a broadband turbo boost few need, Sky customers can anticipate a new premium TV service called Sky Q early in the new year.
Sky Q is a new brand from Sky and is a complete family of devices that promises to change how Sky provides television services around the home. New hardware includes the Sky Q or Sky Q Silver set-top box that's the heart of the setup, a Sky Q mini box along with supporting apps and a new Sky Q remote. Sky is proposing Sky Q as a premium TV service no doubt at a premium price, too. Hmm.
More details on Pocket Lint and The Telegraph and many others.

Just left Virgin media for BT,enjoying the new ultra HD box 1/3 the size of tivo and 1tb,enjoying AMC,Spike, etc,and of course BT sports channels all for a years contract at a reduced price, then i will be ready for Sky Q when its up and running,in the meantime nothing will have changed at Virgin albeit as you say slightly faster broadband speeds,if more people were to take a gamble on changing providers maybe Virgin would stop sitting still and become a innovator once again.

Next year: New 4K TV, New TV Supplier. Virgin are just way outdated and way over-priced now.

As soon as BT upgrade my cabinet to fibre I'll be jumping from Virgin. All these price hikes with unwanted extra features (unnecessary speed boost, BT Sport HD) have made me consider the unthinkable and give money to evil Uncle Rupert.

Where's my TiVo to go? Why can't I watch my recordings over the local wi-fi on my iPad with the to anywhere app? Why is it so hard? We should have this feature in 2015. It's ridiculous. We pay something like £120 a month for this service. I'm tired of having so little flexibility in the way I consume my recorded shows. Don't get me wrong, Virgin broadband is by far the best out there, but the TV service is not innovating at all. It's always the bare minimum and it's always late compared to everyone else. Every other major company is doing exciting things. Sky, BT EE to name a few.

I don't want BT TV but I like that they're being aggressive with 4K. I don't want EE TV either but I like the interface of that product and the tablet integration. We need both of those things. I also like the modern interface on Sky Q. It makes TiVo look archaic. We need something like that as well.

Sometimes I want to play a game on the TV while I watch a show on the tablet. Or use the Apple TV to watch YouTube while I put a show on in the background.

And the broadband speed increase is not that useful for me or probably a large percentage of people who no longer use Ethernet, since we use N wi-fi. I guess I could get an AirPort Extreme or some other AC router and put the super hub in modem mode. But I don't feel like it's going to be worth it right now since the devices in need fast downloads on the most aren't AC compatible (PS4).

Virgin aren't clear about the fact that if you use wi-fi with the standard router, you'll not get the full speed and that seems quite misleading.
