Two new Virgin Media Apps to launch on December 7th.

Virgin Media has announced that the existing Virgin TV Anywhere service will soon be replaced by two new apps on Apple iOS and Android: Virgin TV Go and Virgin TV Control.
Virgin TV Go
Lets you watch telly, at home or on the go anywhere in the UK. You can now watch selected live TV channels (including BT Sport), On Demand and Box Sets on 3G/4G as well as on Wifi, on two of your mobile devices (compatible mobiles, tablets or web browsers).
Virgin TV Control
Manage and set recordings on your Virgin TV V6 or TiVo® box  from anywhere in the world with Wifi, 3G or 4G. Plus, turn your mobile or tablet into a handy extra remote to browse the TV Guide or change channel when you’re at home. With a Virgin TV V6 box, you can even stream selected recordings to a mobile or tablet around the home.
When the new apps launch on Dec 7th your Virgin TV Anywhere app should automatically update to Virgin TV Control when it’s connected to WiFi. If this doesn’t happen, open your Virgin TV Anywhere app and follow the on-screen instructions to update it.
The new TV Go app is a big step forward from what we've had with the limited TV Anywhere app. Both apps are long overdue and, much like the V6, finally make the VM service comparable to Sky Q.
(Just don't mention the lack of 4k programming on Virgin…)

UPDATE, 9.40am 7 Dec

Both apps are now available. From what I can see, Virgin TV Control is just a re-badged Virgin TV Anywhere with the playback facility removed. I have two iOS devices (an iPad Air 2 and an iPhone 6, both running iOS 11.2). Neither updated to the TV Control App automatically but I deleted the old App and manually downloaded the new (it's in the App store - search for Virgin Media and you'll find it). Works fine, but if you try to watch anything it points you to the Virgin TV Go app.
Virgin TV Go app is also available for download.

Having experienced the challenges of launching new apps with Apple in my previous job, I'm not surprised the new one hasn't appeared on schedule - the delay is almost certainly with Apple rather than Virgin Media. A friend was on the trial for TV Go and it's been ready for a few weeks.

My TV Anywhere app on Galaxy S2 tablet updated automatically to the new remote control app but had to manually install TV Go and re-register my device.

Once done I was impressed by the new layout and how quickly it worked. Its
more userfriendly like NowTV Possibly due to being at home and on Vivid 200 broadband.Interesting to see how it works on other Wi-fi or over 4G.

I noticed in the Series link section there's now a Rent or Buy option so wonder if this will integrate with the Virgin Media Store?

I was sceptical about the remote function but it's very smooth and less hassle than the handheld version.

So a thumbs up.

Thanks to Nialli the link worked perfectly, first look at the new app. Looks similar to Netflix

Strange VM have decided to go down the road of changing both the format and colour of the new TV Go app. It looks nothing like either the V6 planner or the older TV Anywhere app.

Wonder why they did that?

Maybe it's the first in a series of new Apps with a cleaner UI design? I like it. Works surprisingly well over 3G on my ageing iPhone, too.

Despite have a subscription to Sky I’m finding the Box Set don’t appear to work. In particular those from Sky. It’s simply says “no results found” that’s on WiFi and 3/4g.
The app appears buggy

Yeah both these app are typically Virgin Media. Shit and don’t work. Disappointed

Does anyone else find the Virgin TV Control app very very slow at loading. Around 25 Seconds. iOS iPhone7.

The guide always takes a while to load so I tend to click on Search or My Shows if I know what I'm after - it was the same with TV Anywhere. My iPhone 6 is showing its age and loads most Apps slowly, but I don't think the new VM apps are any slower. I think my original iPhone 6 only has 1gb of RAM, which struggles with newer versions of most apps.

I was annoyed to find it rejected my usual PIN when wishing to view a Virgin Exclusive before 9pm ! I had to change it back to the default 0000 and then change it again to my normal password.

6 seconds to load on Samsung S2 tablet btw.

Thought I would give it a go. Seems to be working very well, both on my HTC phone and a Samsung tablet. Can't fault it so far. You have to leave the App to watch BBC via the iplayer, which is a shame, however I think this is what the BBC are demanding rather than anything Virgin planned.

In the remote app has anyone found the video control buttons for fast forward or rewind?

They’re on the lower half of the remote app screen - just flick it up. The only things it can’t control is your TV’s volume
