Autumn price rises ahoy

Virgin Media has announced it is hiking prices for five million customers. We will be sent letters between now and the end of September outlining the changes, and the company has confirmed that anyone who wants to can leave penalty-free by providing notice within 30-days of receiving the notification.
Here are the main price increases:

  • Broadband-only – up to £3/mth.
  • Broadband and line rental – up to £3/mth.
  • The Player bundle – by £3/mth.
  • The Mix and Fun bundles – by £3.50/mth.
  • The Full House bundle – by £4/mth.

Anyone who signed up to Virgin Media after August 1st 2018 won't see their prices increase.
The increase will hit bills in either October or November and will be confirmed in the notification letter.

Dear unvalued customer

Seen as you were daft enough to stick with us after we removed a load of the only half decent channels you're clearly stupid enough to stick by us as we hike the prices up even further.

Kiss kiss

Today you can get Sky TV entertainment, Sports and Cinema all in HD. 11meg Broadband unlimited all for 18months at £63 that’s way better than Virgin Media.

Granted it’s only 18 Months but still great value.

Well i will be sticking with them after doing a deal just recently with them i was paying £106 per month but now only £90 per month for all channels including movies and sports and 200meg broadband unlimited so don't mind a price hike.

Only started a new contact mid July. Spoke to virgin today. They’ve put a Promotion on my account minusing the £4 every month starting this month. Therefore until November I am paying £56 for 350mb, phone and XL TV. Can’t complain at that

I have a feeling they’ve been sneaking our bill up again so I’d better give them a call and see. But I’ve looked at other options. There aren’t really any viable ones for what we use so I don’t mind it too much as long as it doesn’t get ridiculous like train prices have. Kind of amazing that we’ve had the same service since something like 1999 and even now there’s nothing better.

@Peter Skelton sounds like a great deal from Sky until you compare the broadband speed sky are offering up to 11mbs unlike the Virgin Media fibre 100mbs.
Be careful when you switch because not all broadband is the same unless speed and streaming is not important.

Called retention’s. 12 months of Sky Sports on the full house bundle. £69 a month that will do me. No price increase in September either so not too bad.

For anyone looking to save money and get Sky Atlantic too don't forget there are many offers out there for a Now TV box with their entertainment package and movies. Not really worth it for sport unless you don't watch much.
We bought the one with built in freeview and being honest if I wasn't paying so little for what we get I'd get rid of TV and possibly phone depending on deal price for broadband.

Why do people constantly blame Virgin for things like no Sky Atlantic ( a mediocre channel at best anyway). It belongs to Sky, it's their choice not to offer it, not Virgin's fault!

I get full house TV which includes all the BT sport's channel's, 200vivid broadband, 3 v6 set top boxes and landline for under £75 a month. 11mb broadband in this day and age is poor, it's only basic broadband at that. As above, if you plan to do anything else than the bog standard basics, you'll probably struggle with 11mb, that's if you actually get anywhere near that in the first place,

I'm currently supposed to be on a price promotion till March next year. The last price increase email I got stated they would honour any promotional periods and it didn't effect me. I'll be calling on Monday to see how things go. Funny, they never mentioned anything about an upcoming price increase when I was reviewing my package on the phone only last week

But all those channels are back now, so I don't see your point??. Glad i was patient and waited, I'd definitely of been stupid to jump ship to Sky like some did, now those same people are complaining that Virgin should of notified them sooner that the channels were being re instated, they can't win whatever they do!

Every company issues yearly price increases, some worse than others. I'm gonna give them a call, their usually pretty good. I've usually always got a good result!

Haven't received the letter yet but I noticed my discount was about to end so I rang them up and renewed for twelve months, saving a few quid each month but nothing sensational.
