Battlestar Galactica in HD
The two-episode mini series and first full season of the outstanding sci fi remake Battlestar Galactica has appeared on Virgin's On Demand service. Go to On Demand > XL > HD 3D.
Without doubt one of the finest shows I've ever seen - if they put the whole series 1-5 on demand there are far far worse ways to spend your viewing time.
Pro-religion? It was an important aspect reflecting many people follow religion (good sci-fi, as this is, only ever reflects our world, not a different world). It also showed on many occasions how it can be a "bad" thing too, in that it can get extremists to do wild things etc.
I won't go on a huge social rant, suffice to say I hope you revisit because the mythology of it and the agenda of the Cylons is AMAZING - and some great acting too.
Obviously I didn't get that far into it, but from what I saw, there was a rational scientist who was persuaded into believing in myth/magic/nonsense by a girl in a red dress. It seemed so illogical and absurd to me that it killed the show completely. Nobody with a functioning brain would do what he did, it's simply impossible and smacked of something written in to draw in the religious nut cases in America.
And religion won't exist in the future, so it shouldn't be in sci-fi. According to recent data and predictions it will be extinct within 3 or 4 generations. Too late for us sadly though.
I watched this last night (4th March) and unfortunately the 30 mins is still missing. We don't see the first cylon attack on Galactica, just the aftermath.
This is an epic series, hand held camera filming to add more realism to the scenes, skin job cylons, glimpses of the original series, this was every sci-fi nuts wet dream.
Just wish Caprica had been as good.
Oh well will have to look forward to the new one "Blood & Chrome"

I watched the first part of the mini series and the playback missed about 30 mins from the hour mark, and went straight to the final scenes.
Have reported it on the support forums si hopefully its sorted.

I got about half way through the first series before the relentless pro-religion rubbish was too much to handle and I gave up on it.

As I said, one of the best shows to have been on TV - if you're going to let one minor aspect of this show stop you watching then you're mad.
I say again, one of the best shows to have ever been on television.
War Breaks Out on New Caprica.

The best show on television ever - so say we all!

Ok...it's gone from a critique of a show to the standard "if you're religious you're fracking stupid, and I'm cleverer than you because I'm not".
I'm not "religious" but I'm also not so rude and pious. Guess I'll leave it at that.
"but from what I saw, there was a rational scientist who was persuaded into believing in myth/magic/nonsense by a girl in a red dress."
Well I guess it's a change from a blond guy with long hair and a beard and his circle of 12 friends.
Myth/magic/nonsense is exactly where it should be - on Sci-fi channels, not in society or politics, in my opinion.
Following the positive welcome, I thought I'd watch this and give it a try. After 35 minutes I couldn't stand it any longer - and I LIKE scifi!
BG isn't for me I'm afraid!
Every episode are intense! Especially the end parts.
