Spotify offer until August 31st

Bainsy88 has left a new comment on the earlier post "Berkett talks about Spotify":
On the Spotify front it's already available! If you go to this page:
http://shop.virginmedia.com/existing-customers/spotify3.html
It invites you to fill in your details to claim a code for 12 months free unlimited Spotify. The best bit is that all codes for Spotify relate to premium so in fact you actually get 12 months premium for free, which is a nice saving of £120.
So VM seem to come through on this, maybe apart from the total lack of advertising on the offer and the lack of a link from there existing customers page. Anyway shouldn't grumble the offer ends on the 31/08/11 so enjoy your free Spotify.

T&Cs:

Offer available to Virgin Media XXL broadband subscribers who sign up to a new 12-month minimum period for XXL broadband. Vouchers are not transferable. Spotify is a 3rd party service with two paid services – Spotify Premium – retailing at £9.99 and Spotify Unlimited retailing at £4.99. At the end of the "free" period, your Spotify service will automatically downgrade to Spotify Open (an ad-supported service) unless you confirm to Spotify that you wish to pay for Spotify. Offer ends 31st August 2011 (or earlier if demand is very high, in which case we will advise the new closing date on our website). Spotify terms and conditions of use apply. For details go to http://www.spotify.com/uk/legal/

what a con, come on vm,XXL only and agree to sign for an extra 12 months, the way vm are with the lack of hd extra channels i think not, they gotta do better than that to keep the hundreds that are leaving every month and going to sky, with all the free radio and television music channels around why bother, spotify wont last, waste of time

I've just signed up but only because I'm already on 50 meg and planning to stay that way. But before using the link provided, I tried finding the page by navigating through the Virgin website. I couldn't. There is no sign whatsoever of the deal higher up the website hierarchy. This is poor practice and I do wonder how many people will actually have the chance to sign up given the tight timescale, the lack of advertising and the requirement to take 50 meg for 12 months. Doesn't sound much of an offer when put like that.

Got to agree with some of what yer saying alan,Not prepared to sign up for another 12 months. My contract is up in march and if were still waiting for new content then a rethink for me,Been with vm/cable for over 10 years and have never considered totally jumping ship b4.

I noticed the URL had a number on the end, so played around with it. It must be being targeted at different groups of existing xxl customers (probably linking from e-mails) as the free offer varies between 3, 6 and 12 months.
12 Months

6 Months
http://shop.virginmedia.com/existing-customers/spotify2.html
3 Months

The plot thickens!

Signed up for the offer but told that it was only available to those who had received an email :(

It`s free for 12 months....well worth signing up for. Already have 50mb broadband and have had for some time, so it`s a no brainer really....

I'm only 4 months in to an 18 month contract with virgin which includes xxl broadband, so if I can get spotify free for the next 12 months - bonus!

This reply seems to answer one thing...

Dear Mr....

We are glad you liked our Spotify offer. We are really sorry though, but you can only get the offer if you got an email from us about it. (We would love to make it available to everyone, but we only had a limited amount to give away this time).
We are bringing out great new offers for our customers all the time, so if youre already with Virgin Media keep an eye on your inbox, or check out the latest offers here. http://shop.virginmedia.com/existing-customers.html

Let see what offer emails come through then in the future?

I assume those e mailed will be the ones paying over a certain amount per month?

If so it can be looked at 2 ways

1. It's VM desperately wanting to keep their highest paying customers on the book for another 12 months

or

2. Rewarding the highest paying punters for their custom and loyalty

Either way it's gonna take much more than this to stop the decline in punter numbers.

@campbellg Can't see it being the amount as my bill is always over £150 a month and hardly ever get emails apart from them trying to get me to take out a mobile from them ;-)

cant really see the downside -if your on 50 mb bb and need this speed for your house or usage requirements and you already have spotify that you pay for whats the problem in getting this for free ?
dont see bt giving you this to sign upto their capped 40gb infinity service which is more money than my 50mb service already

Works a treat! and i certainly didn't get an email from virgin offering the service.....just need to wait for the app to get added to tivo now!

I didn't have an email but having used the link to apply I had a very prompt response with the access code for the free spotify service. My new premium account picks up all of the old settings and works perfectly on the hand held too. So definitely worth doing (cost avoidance of about £120 a year).

I have my free account now. Nice little freebie from Virgin, although I'm not that impressed with Spotify to be frank. Their insistence on using playlists for everything seems bizarre. I just want a neat library of albums, like in iTunes, not an unsorted list of playlists.

Virgin Media are going to move Sky Premium HD Channels from £7 per box to £7 per account from 1st of October.
