hahaha mine won't be upgraded till October and June 2013. Should have kept my bloody mouth shut bragging to my sky broadband mates :-(

'July onwards' happy with that ...

July for me apparently. Surprised as Bristol is still waiting for the faster uploads which I believed were announced in 2010! (April for those apparently).

Cardiff's not until October to June 2013!! Considering I currently only have 10Mb/s, that's a very long time to just flick a switch somewhere to double it to 20Mb/s....

Although for some reason somebody at Virgin Media thinks I get 100Mb/s having just sent me this email:

"Hello Andrew

Good news - we're giving you even faster broadband, for less.

You're already getting the UK's fastest widely available broadband, and starting this summer we'll be starting the roll-out to boost your speeds from up to 100Mb to up to 120Mb. We'll also be lowering the price of your broadband package in April to match the price of our 50Mb Broadband XXL packages. "

"But, because you already get our fastest broadband, we're upgrading you to up to 120Mb and giving you a discount instead"

got an email like above but I'm only on L broadband. I won't say no though.

Guess they sent it to me in error...

" We're sorry that some of you have been sent an incorrect email about how much we're going increase your broadband speed. We're going to look into what went wrong and then make sure you get the right email soon..

To find out how much speed increase you're going to get login to my.virginmedia.com and click on the link at the top of the page. And if you want to know when it's happening go to http://doublespeed.virginmedia.com/

Once again sorry for the confusion."

Preferential treatment for XXL broadband customers let slip by erroneous email. Oops as the email says.

I guess that is the right priority by VM but a bit of a PR faux pas...

matthew said...

So are VIP50 customers getting Priority?

110 million is not just flicking switches -if it was your bb would be run by the government - this is used to upgrade and replace 5000 cabs and upgrade countless head end servers and internal cabling so less outages less pixelations on tv less slower bb less high utilization and as per current 30mb indications overdelivering bb so 60 would probably get 65 20 would get 25 100 would get 105 120 would get125 -if any cant wait just upgrade to 30 or 50 now

NE London - Ocotber 2012 - June 2013 for my 10MB to 20MB.Would rather have a consistent 9-10MB as I did before Xmas than an "up to" 20 MB !
