Has anyone else experienced degraded wifi performance from their router after connecting the TiVo to it? I connected my router to the TiVo via ethernet so that I could have a play with the TV Anywhere on the iPad and found my wifi coverage intermittently dropping. Unplugged the ethernet and normal service was resumed. Odd.
I quite like the App but find the limited channel playback options on the iPad annoying and the picture quality on my MacBook so-so. I don't use my iPad as the remote mainly because it doesn't control the volume on my TV. Overall I'd say it's pretty handy - good for setting and reviewing recordings and deleting older recordings but I think Sky's Apps are superior.
What do you guys think?
No further news on extra channels except for Media Boy's reporting that there will be no channels added in December, so that December 9th rumour about the arrival of Sky Atlantic, News HD and Sports News HD looks like it's a duffer. Makes that price increase next February even harder to swallow.

Had mine connected since the 1st day I got it over 15 months ago, i've noticed no affect on my Wi-Fi dropping out
I think media boy needs to stop talking to "insiders", can't remember when he last posted something even remotely accurate from an "insider"....
Agree mate,choice of channels to view on my ipad a joke and streaming between 2 tivos is a insult.price rise there taking the piss
I use the app on the iPad over wifi and had not experienced any problems but just recently there have been intermittent and very brief drop outs which do require a restart on the modem. However, I wouldn't even suggest a correlation let alone a causal relationship with use of the Anywhere app.
Lack of volume control is the only big omission on the app as a remote.
Channel availability for streaming on the iPad is frankly laughable but the (non VM) catch up TV app does the business. Really can't understand why this is such a struggle for VM.
The single biggest improvement would be to have a playback function for recorded programmes. I know that is a step on but it would make the app very powerful.
As far as the price increase is concerned, we're going to drop down from VIP to premium (or whatever it's called) and retreat to just Sky Sports on the premium channels. Can't quite wean myself off that even though I hate myself much of the time.....
Well since notification of the third price increase within 10 months I cancelled my subs with Virgin and have gone to Sky. Now i've got the channels I wanted Virgin to get (no, not Sky Atlantic as that's a terrible channel) and so much more HD channels to boot :)
I suffered for long before checking there are enough channels made available on the router. As all these appliances get added if there is a max set ...
Re wifi, like Halifaxlad, I had the beta app for a very long time, which a he reminded me is over a year... Wow it took that long to get from testing to launch!
No wifi problems, but then I've got a whizzy router and two additonal access points in the house... No black spots and any critical systems (nas boxes) connected with wire and at different ends of the house.
Re the app, early beta tests the app was the TiVo buddy app for remote control which it does well. Fr obvious reasons it can't control the volume on the telly but it does most other things on the TiVo itself.
For this reason the app is great.
Streaming came along later as did the new name... Changing the name IMHO changed the perception of the tool dramatically. Providing a lack of channels compared to sky means it is inferior in this respect. However the tools itself is good as a remote (use it more than the peanut) but is near pointless for streaming unless they increase the channels and add mainstream channels. 40 unpopular channels is marginally better than no channels!
It is a technically good app but lacks the channels to make it a game changer.
Again personally I would have preferred they did the TiVo buddy without streaming and released it earlier. Released the streaming app as a separate piece then combitned them when they fixed the number of channels and the streaming from on demand and your own TiVo box.

I have my SHUB in modem only mode, i only connected to my router so the mrs could use the iphone app.
Have the 2 tivos connected with home plugs, and my wi-fi has been dropping like mad, totally random, i assume it's the home plugs poss conflicting?
THANK GOD, someone else has this issue, least i know it's not just me!!
