Software update to address TiVo slowness

From Virgin Media:
Update to our TiVo boxes
We are aware that some customers have been experiencing some slowness when using their TiVo® service recently. We’ve listened to the feedback and have been working to understand what the problems are and how we can fix this. We want to ensure that we give our customers the best service we can and have been testing a number of changes to help speed up the boxes.
We’ve now started to roll out a new code to all our TiVo boxes to help make our TV service quicker, the plan is to complete the roll-out throughout the rest of November.
There’s nothing you will need to do as the changes will take place overnight and won’t affect any of your TiVo box settings or recordings. Please note if the TiVo box is switched off the code will then download when you switch it back on again; this normally takes no more than 30 minutes to complete.

This is not clear - do we need to switch our boxes off and on at the mains or just put them to sleep ..... ?

Mine's updated without me doing anything.
Software Version : 20.5.7.RC24-VMC-2-C00

Has it made any difference Nialli? Our box is painfully slow.

Got the latest updates still hopelessly slow

I've found that the combination of the cache clearing (see previous post) and software update have made my TiVo far more usable, as does the little shortcut of just pressing Play to view a recording rather than OK (which brings up an unnecessary info screen) then OK again.
If you're not seeing any benefit at all, maybe a reboot?
None of this excuses VM expecting customers to pay full price for aging, sub-standard hardware whilst waiting for the V6 that for many of us is likely to be a long wait with possibly a price sting at the end, so maybe make a call to Retensions to save a few quid, too?

My box is still very slow indeed, sometimes to the point of useless. Hanging on for the V6 or sky here i come.

Virgin Media don't care they have said all this rubbish with the previous updates. Things like we're working on it and it will be resolved again and again it has not done anything to sort it out.

THATS WHY they are rolling out a new box you cannot fix something that can't be fixed,if it can be fixed then why haven't they done it long ago huh?

NOW it seems they are just fobbing of their customers by saying over and over we are rolling out a new update, of which has done absolutely nothing to improve it one iota.
