Samsung V+

If, like me, you're struggling with one of the older SA V+ boxes, this video may tempt you to try to get a Samsung V+ sooner rather than later. Channel and graphic changes are instant, whereas on the SA box you can wait for ages. The SA is definitely struggling with all of the HD I'm now enjoying - four restarts this week alone.
But should you wait for a larger capacity or TiVo? That's the dilemma. And there's always the chance that Virgin will only replace your SA V+ with another, perhaps even older unit. Decisions decisions.

I have a Samsung V+ box and do prefer it to the old boxes. It's a lot quicker to change channel. I find the on demand content much slower to browse and load now though

The old SA box I had vibrated very badly and was noisy as a result, very annoying. I complained and the engineer kindly swapped it for a new Samsung, which is excellent although the disc capacity is far too small for recording HD material.

well our sam v+ isnt much better, have to restart at least 3 times a week and failed recordings are common.

the v hd box however works a charm and is very very quick!

I did the self-install route and the box is _much_ faster than the SA box, however sods law and shortly after the box developed a fault and an engineer swapped it for another SA box... doh!

OD access times are the same on both SA & Sammy hardware. SA V+ Has better SD capability. Sammy has faster menu access.

For all it's faults, I prefer the SA box.

Personal choice...

My friendly virgin engineer swapped our sa box fir a samsung one no questions, it's much faster and actually looks like something out of the 21st century not an old vcr!

I had a VM engineer round yesterday and the Sammy boxes are being recalled, they appear to die after a few months
