A little more info on the TiVo V+ box

Thanks to Media Boy and his insider for the following:
Virgin Media will launch the new TiVo powered STB to internal staff for trials next week.
The new box, as stated in the press release will feature 1TB of storage. After launch we will see the integration of the new Spotify service and Facebook, along with the option to stream and back-up recorded content to LAN devices (laptop and other STB etc), just like the US TiVo.
A new "peanut" remote will also be introduced and will differ slightly from the standard TiVo remote. Remote record will also be added.
The service will use its own dedicated modem (10Mb) for online content. The new HD EPG looks great and the overall feel is just like the current TiVo Premiere in the US.
Very interesting. The picture by the way is of the US TiVo Premiere, not the Virgin Media version - so that's what a "peanut" remote looks like!

I have been waiting for this for a long time and I am very excited.

I am hoping their isn't another monthly subscription for this though.

As with the box, I just can't wait to get rid of my SA box!!! Before I see prices, I think I'd be happy paying upto £150 for it.

Cool, this is the best News i've heard in ages, I used to love my Tivo. Its so hard trying to explain how good they are unless you have used one. I like the V+ but its just NOT TIVO, Its not very intuiative and it doesnt know and learn my tastes like a tivo would. I wonder if it will have 3 tuners like the v+ though ! or will they try to cut costs and go with 1 or 2 ? That would be an awful shame. I enjoy taking the piss out of those poor gits with Sky + and there limited tuners.

Is this an integrated IPTV solution or a consolidation of existing cable TV services with additional online capability?

Just spent 15 minutes calling 151, was told January at the earliest. No way to book / reserve one at present. 3 tuners will be good, its surprising how often two is not enough!

Awesome ability to grab stuff off box for long term storage. I think that's one of the draw backs of all the other PVRs (Sky + included).
