@Anthony: Virgin are still saying they will launch this year. Whilst one would hope this would mean you could have one by Christmas, it may be more sensible for someone else to find the bugs and not be an early adopter @BikeNutt: I noticed that too, but if it is a mock-up, its very good and most likely official @Carl: MediaBoy sent it through to me for inclusion
Hi guys, just to let you know that 500 lucky virgin employees ranging from managers to front line agents are being selected this week to trial the box before the launch in December. I have my fingers crossed. if I am lucky enough, I will be able to give you a complete run down. Everyone should be finding out Thursday or Friday.
A huge improvement over the 1980s relic we all have at present. An upgrade though I think will very much depend on price. While having a new UI will be nice, there's no new functionality of any worth beyond the bigger HD. So the question is, how much would you pay for an HD menu on your PVR?
Pretty sure the screenshot is a mockup, since it uses that same source shot. But it's probably a good representation.
I'm currently Freeview but will upgrade to Virgin Media when it goes TiVo because I loved my TiVo back in the day. Looking forward to seeing what On Demand, 50mbit broadband gets me.
Square Eyes, I think I read somewhere that the Virgin TiVo had NAS sharing. I have a bunch of videos on a NAS drive. I don't suppose I'll be able to play them will I? Mostly DVD rips of kids shows - beats messing around with DVDs.
Yes David, good point. I too like the idea of streaming content from/to elsewhere in the house. I hope VM don't disable this feature (and others) as they have done in the past with the V+.
I've ripped many of my DVD's to a PC and currently stream via the PS3 for convenience. It would be nice to be able to access this library from the TiVo box.
as far as I am aware yes you will be able to watch something recorded on another box, this has not been disabled, also one of the best features is something called "fuzzy intelligence" which mean the box will automatically record programs based on viewing history. no word yet on cost or the subscription cost to TiVo services.
Why do these PVR/DVR/TiVo menus overlay what I am trying to watch? There is so much information on the new systems that it takes time to browse and explaore and I don't want to miss what I am 'watching' while I do so. Its a TV after all, not a PC, so I am there to watch stuff.

Why do we still have to have HD channels on a seperate menu, can they not be integrated into the other menus?
Kewl!
What do you think the chances of us owning one by Christmas are?
Is this real or just a mock-up?
Same shot of Million Dollar Baby (top right) as US Premiere vids posted previously!?
That's the one. Nice find. Where'd you get that? ;-)

A little preview just gone live here

Sigh. Huge adverts placed front and center in the way of what you are trying to do.
HD not intergrated (apperently).
No word on pricing/upgrade ?
Not that I'm going to want to be first, based on NTL's technical record...
