November 30th for "something unmissable"

Virgin Media has sent out invites to the press for an event on November 30th, which the company says is for "something unmissable". I'd imagine that's going to be the official unveiling of the long awaited V6 4K TiVo box.

Stay tuned, folks

I hope it's good and gives Sky Q a run for its money - I've been putting off my decision about what to do about Virgin (stay? leave? downgrade?) until the details of this box (and pricing, naturally) have been released.

And there's a guy posting on Cable Forum, a new VM customer, who's got a Virgin TV V6 box and ain't covered by the non-disclosure:

Can't see anything about streaming outside the home, which is a shame. Hopefully it will come later

Too little, too late as far as I'm concerned. Made the decision a couple of weeks ago when I got the chance to get the complete Sky Q package (with sports & movies) for £30/month. Throw in the fact that I can now get BT fibre which gives a respectable, if not spectacular, 40 Mbps and that made making the break after 15 years all the easier. Both installations went smoothly (which is far more than I can say for the disconnection service I received through Virgin which has turned into a complete nightmare!). As far as Sky Q goes, well the interface is much much faster than Tivo - things load almost instantly as opposed to waiting, well in some cases up to a minute or more, on Virgin. Seems much more intuitive too. My contract runs for a year with sky but the chances of me moving back to Virgin when it runs out are slim... but never say never.

The capabilities of the box are worthless without content.
It doesn't sound like they're going to get getting any UHD sports from either BT or Sky. If all you can get is Netflix and YouTube, it's not worth it.

It's the same line of arguments as when HD first started making its way onto devices. The content will follow (eventually)

God I hope this new box comes soon,I could throw the current one out of the window,it's so slow and sticky.

Can't believe i just got a booklet come from VM saying about changes and not one mention of the new Tivo. Only the same old crap about channels and their new series link plus
