Hurrah - more emphasis on broadband - thanks Mr Berkett!

Sky+HD is looking more tempting by the hour, especially as I can keep VM broadband and telephone and my monthly costs won't be much more...

So for those of us who have 10MB already but don't actually use the cumbersome PC-Guard rubbish, we can pesumably now "downgrade" to the cheaper option without any reduction in bandwisdth?!!

This is good news for people on the basic package. But a slap in the mush for those of us who upgraded last year to achieve this bandwidth. I for one will be looking to downgrade!! PC-Guard isn't worth the extra money!! There's free stuff out there on the interweb that does a better job without being so CPU hungry!!

What a strange thing. We were told only a month or so ago that 2Mbs customers wouldn't be upgraded at all, that it'd simply cease to new customers. This smacks of staggering news to try and manage expectations. Hmmm a cynic might say respinning old stories suggests a lack of good news tomorrow...

Great news for BB 2Mbers though. All the suggestions were it'd be an upgrade to about 5Mbs. This is brilliant.

As I just said on the post about the ITV player. I suspect that these two "bombshells" have been dropped purposefully today to give the VM board something possitive to say about their current service improvement programme. Neatly sidestepping the burning issue of their extremely lame linear HD offerings and plans.

If I'm proved right tomorrow, I'll see it as a rather cynical ploy from them, and an acknowledgement that they think we all came down in the last rain-shower!!

Yes indeed. Very bad for them. They could at least do us the courtesy of sticking their fingers in their ears and shouting la-la-la rather than trying to pretend this rereleased news is good news.

Perhaps they still believe the old addage "No news is good news"?? Why don't they re-launch NICAM stereo and try & convince us that it's their latest show-stopping innovation? Or perhaps Ceefax!! I'd buy that for a dollar!!
OI Burkett...NO!!!

I think the posts here are on the money: these broadband and ITV announcements today are likely to be the only changes to service accompanying tomorrow's results. Oh, and maybe a non-specific "more HD coming soon" to pacify investors...but not us customers.

I'd like to see Derek Akorah appointed as VM's chief communications officer. His proven ability to divulge information from beyond normal earthly sources, coupled with his colourful and theatrical delivery would make him a sure-fire success. And also a more believable alternative to the current gang of clowns we are expected to take seriously. I should calm down, I've thumped enough desk now!! :-)

Just rang VM C/Services and argued with them for 40 minutes about getting my package cheaper because of this news and with me finding out new customers can get broadband 10mb for £20 a month and managed to get.....

broadband reduced by £10 a month without getting into another contract. (the deal without getting into a new contract to a lot of arguing and threatening to leave haha)ibe

i had to speak to VM cutomer services on saturday and they gave me a free broadband upgrade from 2mb to 10mb to try for 1 month. after this the price would be the current size large price. Funny how they failed to tell me i would be upgraded for free in less than a week! Im definately gonna move to Sky HD if no definate HD announcements are made by VM tomorrow

Hooray! I like fast broadband even though I couldn't justify paying the extra to move up to 10mb. I wonder if I already have this like ITV Player, let me do a speed check!

"Virgin Media said it would start rolling out the upgrade – at no extra cost to customers – in May."

Oh.

:(

For me it's nothing lost, nothing gained for a while I guess.

I guess I'll start to anticipate it in May then, while they brag about it tomorrow.
