Good news for those gripped by The Walking Dead, the most successful cable show ever in US TV history. The second half of season four will be shown within 24 hours of its US broadcast as Fox move it to Monday nights from February 10th. Set the series link now.
But don't bother setting one for the series repeats on Five, as Five has decided that it doesn't have room in its extensive, quality nightly schedules for the show and won't be showing season four or any subsequent series.
Five used to pick up some quality US imports but seems to have abandoned that strategy now - no more Justified, now no more Walking Dead. This from a broadcaster that had the second series Breaking Bad but ditched that, too.
And the TV companies wonder why illegal downloads and the likes of Netflix and LoveFilm are proving so popular...

Quite unbelievable. I hadn't appreciated that the next season of Justified won't be on 5 USA. It is now such a sorry tale over several years of top quality US drama shows not being transmitted on even minority network channels on the Freeview platform. I appreciate that it is hardly in the same league, but Five have also dropped Californication which is now happily ensconced on Netflix as well. Another example of how yet more premium subscriptions are required in order to access shows which really should be available to all. Whilst cable and on demand subscriptions are increasing their penetration it does mean that more and more programming is hidden behind pay walls of one kind or another. Or indeed, only available if you subscribe to a particular platform ...
The more that moves to Netflix the better. With netflix you get full series to watch when you want, how you want on whatever device you want... WITHOUT ADVERTS. Why we put up with Murdoch and co. conning us into paying to watch adverts is beyond me.
Netflix, you can have my £6 per month for full series and movies, and when Love Film gets a decent range of TV shows, I think I'll sign up to that and be able to boot old school cable into touch forever.
and if you use a VPN with Netflix you get the US content as well
