Sky Movies is being replaced by Sky Cinema to give customers "even more of the biggest and best movies closer to cinema release than any other subscription service."
Launching on July 8th, Sky Cinema customers will receive a new movie premiere every day, more on demand films, pop up channels as well as better HD picture and sound quality. All of these extras are designed to take them "closer to the cinema experience," according to Sky.
Among the first films featuring on Sky Cinema in July are Spectre, Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation and Ant-Man. In August, The Martian, Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens and The Man from U.N.C.L.E will be added.
And here's the important bit for us: Sky Cinema will be available at no extra cost to existing and new subscribers. This includes customers who currently access Sky Movies on NOW TV, BT, Virgin Media and TalkTalk.
HD content will be offered as standard to all Sky Cinema customers on the Sky and Virgin Media platforms.

Well I don't know about you but our sky cinema is not HD by default
Has anyone noticed that the Sky Cinema On Demand service is NOT in HD, there used to be a choice to watch HD. Not anymore, is this because their trying to kid everyone on that there in HD
Watching Underworld, very poor quality picture. Where is the HD section.
The Sky Cinema channels are definitely in HD (1080i) and I think the picture quality has improved considerably. But you're right about the On Demand Sky Cinema selection being predominantly SD. A few are HD (e.g. some of the Star Trek and Star Wars movies) but far from all. I've also had to sit through a Head & Shoulder ads before testing this with Star Wars (the original one, which doesn't look HD to me). I'll ask someone at VM what's going on and report back.
I think Virgin media is a complete rip off. they have down scaled the tivo box with less HD content ie Sky Cinema originally you could choose and get most of all films in HD now you cant. This is because they will introduce there new box V6 that will have all the stuff in HD and 4K and basically try to squeeze more money out of us in thinking we are getting new and improved.
