Time for a quick poll. Sky customers get an option of buying a Sky+ HD box with up to 2Tb (2,048Gb), but us Virgin Customers just get a measley 160Gb in our V+, which equates to just 20 hours of HD recordings. What's more, we can't (legally) install a bigger hard disc as the box belongs to Virgin.
So would you be willing to pay for greater capacity on your V+? A poll has been posted top right on this blog - let me know what you think.

i would
YES.
If Virgin gave a free upgrade then that would be a possible Sky killer ??
Where can you get a 2tb sky+hd box? I've seen 1tb, but not 2... :S
i'll happily take a new TIVO powered 2gig box off them
now NTL are rapidly gaining a respectable HD line up, including BBC1, 20h just doesn't cut it any more, especially if one or both of us is away for more than a week or so.
If VM are as serious about HD as they say they are, then they really need to sort this out or risk losing customers to the dreaded SKY!!

Not actually Sky themselves but a long time Authorised Sky Advertiser.
Comes with 3 year warranty too!
bigger capacity more to lose when box packs in
@BikeNutt
Thanks :) 2tb is overkill though imo..
Cheers though! :D
Definitely YES.
I don't have Virgin or Sky but I have my PC setup as a PVR using DVBViewer to record freesat/freeview, it can happily record 20+ channels at the same time without breaking into a sweat.
To deal with storage I use a Icy Box 168SK enclosure where all I need to do is slide in a SATA HDD just like and old fashioned video tape. If I'm running low on space then I slide out the current drive and in with a new one.
I expect Virgin / Sky will always lag behind, it's not in their interest to have you watching everyone via plus where adverts can be skipped
just enable the esata port on the back, and I will be happy...
simples!
It doesn't need to be 2Gb, just give me 500Mb and we can get back to the 80 hour limit as with SD. We shouldn't have to pay extra.
@Martin
you mean 2TB and 500GB!!
500MB would record 5 minutes!!
Are you going to forward the results to VM
Yes, although to be honest this site gets visited by Virgin folk so they'll already be aware of the poll numbers
Yep
Would like a larger hard drive as with more HD channels being available I am finding there is not enough room
I've not got a Virgin V+ HD box at the moment but I'd say 160GB seems a bit small for HD stuff.
I'd personally say, why don't Virgin let customers plugin an external drive of their own at their own risk?
When I eventually do upgrade to a V+ HD box I'd be more than happy to provide my own external hard drive to increase capacity.
