BBC to launch five more HD channels by early 2014

The BBC has announced that it will launch BBC News HD, BBC3 HD, BBC4 HD, CBeebies HD and CBBC HD by early 2014. It is also working on plans to launch regional variants of BBC1 HD and BBC2 HD for Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
BBC director general Tony Hall said: "BBC1 HD and BBC2 HD have already proved to be highly valued by our audiences and I'm delighted that we're able to follow this with the launch of five new subscription-free BBC HD channels by early 2014. These new channels will allow us to showcase more of our programming at its very best."
Separately, Ofcom has announced that it will make space available for 10 additional HD channels on digital terrestrial TV services, with the capacity freed up by the digital switchover last year

Just to clarify, there are already national versions of BBC1 HD (for Scotland, Wales and NI). The issue is for the national versions of BBC2 and the *regional* versions of BBC1 in England,

Where these end up going to be 'fun'

"Currently" PSB HD:
BBC One HD 108, BBC Two 187, ITV HD 113 4HD 142 Channel 5HD 150 ITV2-4HD 176-178

Plus BBC Alba 188

159 supposely been 'reserved' for Local TV is also silly. I would prefer an Red Button/Connected TV option for VOD and Region Choice (I know London Live plans to have an VOD channel).

If HD Swapping not done 108 could be freed up for Local TV 111-117 could go to HD versions of 101-107

Else HD Swapping of 102, 104-107 (101/103 regional), 108 Local TV (SD) and an "Non Regional" version of BBC One HD on 109, ITV HD on either 110/113. This outcome also free up 142, 150 and 187. BBC Alba given a EPG number as close to S4C as possible!
