Dexter Season 3 in HD

Press release from Virgin today:
Virgin Media customers will be able to get a fix of their favourite blood-spatter-analyst-turned-serial-killer whenever they want, as the latest series of Dexter launches on Virgin Media TV on demand this week. All Virgin Media TV Choice customers will be able to catch season three on demand, with V+ HD users able to enjoy the show in all its gruesome goriness in HD.
Now in its third series, Emmy award winning Dexter stars Michael C. Hall as a sociopathic killer as he carries out his vigilante crusade, ridding society of criminals he believes deserve to die. Season two ended with a gripping finale with Dexter’s secret almost unveiled by Sgt. Doakes, when he found evidence linking Dexter to the ‘Bay Harbour Butcher’ victims. But with Doakes out of the way, Dexter is once again back on track, believing he is now master of the techniques his father taught him.
Season three begins on FX UK on 24th April with Dexter setting his sights on Freebo, a dope dealer and killer, as his next target. It looks to be just another night of his dark justice, but things don’t go as planned. The first episode will be available in Virgin Media’s on demand library TV Choice from 26th April, with a new episode stacking each week, All Virgin Media TV customers will be able to enjoy a taste of Dexter with the first episode available in Virgin Central, the on demand channel, from 26th April. Virgin Central is available at no additional cost to customers who subscribe to Virgin TV on digital cable.
Katharine Burns Rivington, managing director of content acquisition and strategy at Virgin Media said “With Virgin Media TV on demand, our customers have the flexibility to watch the broadest range of shows whenever they choose, with over 4,600 hours of TV, film and music to pick from. We’re big fans of Dexter and are delighted to bring our customers such a great show in HD. This is just one example of our commitment to bringing more HD to our customers, be it via linear channels or our extensive on demand service.”
Not wishing to appear ungrateful, but I can't think of any other examples of their commitment to bringing more HD to us customers...

Again, not wishing to appear ungrateful but Seasons 1&2 would be nice for those of us who've never watched this show.

VM did this with LOST Seasons 1-3.

What, by putting on one show? Seriously? What about the whole FX HD channel!?

And not spoiling all of Season 2 in the press release would be nice too... I guess it would be spoiled for you too if you start watching at S03E01 (I believe it starts with an extensive recap!), but it's pretty easy to accidentally read what happens this way even if you planned to catch up later!

I think they did have some old Dexters on TV Choice at some point, plus they've all been on ITV and FX already. All in SD of course... so if you were waiting for HD to watch from the start you're still stuck.

Excellent series that I'd recommend you start from the beginning if possible (in SD or imported blu-ray unless VM steps up very quickly!), but Season 3 should stand alone quite well too if you don't mind dreaded spoilers.

Some other examples are the BBC HD channel and the V+ box. You're welcome!

What sort of answer is that?
Instead of just giving customers the run around why not just state when we get more HD channels.
It's not that difficult is it?
Also bring down the cost of your HD on demand movies i for one will never pay for one at the prices your asking.

I'm not sure that's a genuine response from Virgin above or someone just using it as a Google ID. It was posted out of office hours so I suspect the latter (email me if I'm wrong)

This is a step in the right direction, at least. As a recent "graduate" to the V+ service and a big fan of Dexter series 1 & 2, I'm pretty pleased with this development! More of the same, please, Virgin Media...

I agree...

After a brief forced absence from these pages and related forums (through sheer frustration) this clear, definate news gives me the positivity to picture it as the first leaky crack in the damn before the man made monstrosity crumbles and the valley floods, allowing the flow to reach it's natural destination, the sea of VM customers who have not yet evaporated into the Sky.

Welcome back MaestroMarv. There's more definite news on its way, I can assure you. Currently under embargo...and I'm not going to offer hints guys...sorry.

Nialli, you tease!!

And Maestromarv - what a beautiful use of the English language, love your post!!

A step in the right direction is a little too positive...

1 show in HD. Isn't that the first new HD item added this year??

Sky have 30 odd HD channels, plus you can watch the footy on ITV HD with a SKY HD box. Are we so starved of HD, that we are happy with one episode of HD per week??

It is a "step" in the right direction, as it also suggests HD content from FX is being negotiated for (we've not seen FX HD programming in On Demand before I can think of).
And that's interesting as it's a News Corp company, who also own...

And you said you wouldn't offer any hints, Nialli ;-)

Good, some small positive news at last and more importantly proves they are talking to providers.

"....more importantly proves they are talking to providers"

No, it proves they are talking to just one provider, but only for VOD content

Carol - you pedant you!
They are talking to providers plural, but I take your point.

Being a real pedant it is actually providers as we know they are still talking to ITV and the discovery networt. It is only VOD but I wouldn't expect any deals from FX, who having launched recently may still be sky exclusive and more importantly are one of the most lusted after channels.
