Sky Sports HD update - no 3,4 or News in HD

Anyone doubting the iminent arrival of Sky Sports HD on Virgin Media should check out this page from Sky.com: Why Sky Sports with Sky? This confirms that we're getting Sports 1 and 2 in HD, but not 3, 4 or Sports News. It also suggest we won't get some Red Button services until next year, but it isn't clear if others will be available this year.
Typical though - we learn more from Sky than we get from VM

One sky killer could be sky HD content on virgin's Video On Demand as Sky's forthcoming Anytime+ will not initially feature any HD content.

Scot's won't get the SPL in HD as its mainly on HD3 and HD4

I thought it was common knowledge we were only get SS1 and 2 in HD?

I just saw the BT advert on TV for Sky Sports HD 1 and 2. They are offering it at a price of £6.99 each per month. I hope Virgin Media do it cheaper than that!

@BH: BT only offer Sky Sports 1 and 2 in standard definition: they have no HD Sky Sports. In fact I am not sure they have any HD channels at the moment with their boxes, although I think they have some On Demand programmes and films in HD.
From what I know of the BT technology, the best they can offer will be the Freeview HD channels (BBC, ITV1, Channel 4 and in the Autumn BBC1 HD) but I'm not sure they even have those yet.

Unfortunately, the only thing I watch on SS is WWE (don't bother with the usual jokes) and IndyCar - both on SS3, sometimes SS4, so this is no good to me at all.

Great.

According to Cable Forum they will launch on 2/8/10 and there will be a charge. Pre order from 19/07/10

According to todays tabloids (Sun 11th July) Sky have an advert saying don't miss this season's Champions League on Sky Sports 2 And Sky Sports 4. We're only getting 1 & 2. Crafty, very crafty indeed!

They have shown games on Sky Sports Xtra in previous years, so nothing new with them showing it on SS4 this season. Originally we never had the fourth sports channel even in SD, so we're better off that we used to be. To echo what Matthew commented: last summer we only had BBC HD, now we will have around 30 HD channels before the new season kicks off. Can't complain.

It just means that the die hard Champions League fans will go with Sky not Virgin.

I also echo your statement on our forthcoming HD channels - we shouldn't really complain.

Keep up the good work Nialli.

P.S. Why am I moaning, I support Liverpool! I love Five?

A bit out of touch here, but have Sky bought all the Premiership games, or will there still be a few on ESPN HD?
