Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Tivo - particularly the quality of SD broadcasts!

@philip guest: what's SD????
Seriously: I will have a better look one evening (too sunny to see the damn thing at the moment!)

Had my install this morning too. One word 'Epic'. Took just over an hour, but the engineer was 1st class. Spent ages with me demonstrating everything the box could do and answering all my questions. Kudos to Virgin.

Had my TIVO installed last night, it only took about 20 minutes to install and set up, the enigneers were first class, it has not failed to impress me, well worth the wait. it was the enigneers first install since being on a training course 3 months ago, he said it had improved since he last saw it.

I've found a few things with the remote I had heard were missing. When scrolling through the TV Guide, you can "Page Up/Down" with the Channel Up/Down button. The same button also allows you to scroll through channels in the Mini Guide.

Glad you finally got your tivo!

Has anybody has any issues with random restarts and the tv choice hanging when you scroll through the screens?

Got my install booked for early next month and just had a phone call from VM saying that I could keep my old V+ box (Telewest TV Drive!! 2006) for free and just to let the engineer know where I want it installed! Bargain!

Had my TiVo installed this morning and it went great, but for some reason it affected the V+ we have it's only showing very basic channels and says we dont have V+ service. My dad not happy as the helpline don't have a clue and an engineer can't come out till Sunday an he wanted to watch the match.

Damned thing keeps restarting every 30 minutes!!! Called virgin and they have no idea. Going to send someone out Monday afternoon. So what do I do for the next 4 days?

What exactly have I paid £150 and £3pm for...?

Not a happy bunny!!!

Mine was installed yesterday, they were early for their appointment!!!
Cant complain really!

Box is in, working a treat. Took a few hours to fully populate and was sluggish until then (he wanred of this).

Few niggles, - sometimes it hangs on exiting a series link or My Shows screen - but eventually exists OK.

The mix of HD and SD screens is a bit jarring - go from a nice HD screen to choosing Series Link options and it goes to SD.

Yet if i SET series link options from a discovery bar item, its all in HD. Odd.

The new iPlayer app is superb and actually what I hoped for all along with the V+ iPlayer. Now we just need all the others to do it too.

Other than that, very impr4essed.

It's already started recording a load of recommendations, although I have to sort through them now!

Hope Virgin enable the home streaming feature (the media access keys are "temporarily unavailable') and I cant wait to see more 'apps')

I'm loving my TiVo - the HD is stunning, it's as if I have a brand new telly! I really didn't expect such a chnage in picture quality.

Can't wait for the iPad app now!

Got my install on the 27th April. Got a phone call off VM yesterday to say that I could also keep my existing Samsung v+HD box and they`ll re-locate it to another room FOC and at no extra monthly cost....Great Stuff!!

I've just left a comment on the Tivo blog about picture quality on the Tivo service. HD better; SD softer. There also seems to be a slight zoom effect which I think is accentuating the softening on SD. This may just be part of acclimatising to the new service (only installed yesterday)and I'm still playing around with the TV settings to see if I can improve matters but it is a little disappointing (our TV is a fairly high end Sony which does generally provide really sharp definition).

The majority of viewing is now in HD but for those of us who spend quite a lot of time with BBC4 this softening in SD is still significant.

Anyone else picking up the same effect?

Got mine installed last Wednesday. No phone call to ask if I wanted to keep my V+ though. Just phoned retentions to ask why. Neither they or the sales team have any knowledge of people being asked if they want a free V+ relocation apparently. Told him about this blog and he said to email a complaint with links to this blog. I did get HD premium channels as a gesture of good will for 3 months though!!!
