Activating a second box for the Sky Premier HD channels...

...doesn't happen automatically: you need to call Virgin Media. No charge, can take an hour or two.

"Nick_London" over at digital spy has posted this
I asked that office myself and they said there are no plans to launch any new channels and the only confirmed channels are the UKTV HD channels as well as ITV HD channels and Sky Atlantic is still to be negotiated with the broadcaster.

Reason for the lack of channels is because some channels are restricted to Sky only due to Sky carriage contract terms other reasons are because Virgin Media don't feel that there is a big demand for them.

I called Sunday about another issue and asked about the premium hd in my second room as it hadnt come on yet and they activated it there and then - so it didnt happen automatically for me...

@gsituffers - sorry but you are wrong. I also had to call to get the additional boxes activated.

As usual for VM the customer service rep was not aware of the change, but after putting me on hold made the change to my account. An hour later I got an email confirming the change and the HD channels were there on my 2 other boxes.

Hope this helps others,
Ellis

With an additional box does the engineer need to do any drilling to get it into the other room for example upstairs bedroom? I live in rented house, so it's not as straight forward for me.

@mattbuk - one way or another I expect so. One option is to take the cable from the box outside up the wall (over the roof if necessary) and in the wall.

Alternatively if you feel that tacking cable along the skirting from wherever the entry point is to the new room then that is an option too.

I expect with TiVo having it's own internet cable it won't be too long before someone is offering some sort of wireless/bluetooth solution.

Hope this helps.

Tel 150 to activate sky movies & sports HD but was told I needed to pay extra £7, I'm sure this is not correct - can anyone confirm this?

They tried that with me - as I told the lady, I feel like everytime I call 150 about a promotion or something, I feel like I educate them - they are always the last to know. She spoke to her supervisor and it was done - just call back and insist!

What if you have 3 boxes? Can they all be activated or is a 2 limit?

It's per account, so if you have three, all three now qualify for the Premier HD channels
