How Virgin Customer Service deals with questions about Sky Atlantic

Amusing-but-true from The Guardian:
Never let it be said that Virgin Media lacks a strategy to deal with the absence of shiny new Sky Atlantic from its screens. We only mention this after Monkey's uncle called the cable operator to inquire if it would be available to Virgin customers any time soon. The operator sounded mildly confused – we may paraphrase slightly – before searching his "system" for information. "Oh, here's something," he said, before appearing to read something from his screen. "Virgin Media customers will start calling and asking about Sky Atlantic. Do not tell them it won't be available to them. Instead emphasise all the great entertainment channels we have on Virgin Media." He added: "So in answer to your question, I don't know. You'll have to phone back on Tuesday."

We just had Tivo installed today. We can only record one show and watch another and the installer said it will only go up to what the V+ box does at the moment, so where is the record 3, watch 4 coming from?

Also, I tried to set Castle up for series link and it says it wont tape the new episode tonight since it claims it is a repeat.

ALSO, the TV guide takes about 8 hours to update so I can't set up any more series links and it is just a poor layout.

Not impressed so far.

If the installer told you that it will only record one and watch one, then he is wrong.
If you can actually only record one channel then you have a fault.

As others have said here, the record 3, watch one update should be this month.

The TV guide update is only for the first loading. from then on, it only takes minutes.

I would wait for the first update to finish before setting any series links !

Just been on the phone with a Tivo technician, who said it can take 5 days for the channel guide to work. That's ridiculous.

Castle is still listed as a repeat despite it being new and I now have to set repeats to tape for it to work.

I hope this works out over the next few weeks or so as I would be disappointed with this. Not to mention the YouTube facility is the same dodgy effort you get on a PS3, with 99% of my video searches finding no results with the same search working in 3 seconds on a PC.

On the plus side, my old V+HD is now upstairs so I have HD in two rooms and I only have this Tivo box due to winning it in the 1,000 people competition.

The potential is huge, the search function alone told me The Event had returned to Channel 4 this week. Just a lot of bugs.

Totally off subject, but I was in a training course today in Liverpool about how people access the internet and the lady on the course with me mentioned Tivo.

I then went on and said 'oh, yeah Virgin are bringing it out soon.'

She then replied and said she got it in January for free and has to pay nothing extra!!!

I wouldn't mind, I asked her about it and she said it was alright, but she didn't watch it that much :-(

Had to laugh when I saw this article

I have posted that not doing a deal to share Atlantic with the 3.8m Virgin TV subscribers has surely increased piracy. Whether it gets published is another matter!
